What services do you offer?

The Equine Club offers a number of riding and related services on either own school horses or you may bring your own. Our services are conducted across two locations, The Equine Club being based at Five Star Arena in Cranbourne South and The Park, being located at 20 Old Moorooduc Road, Dromana.

The services at The Equine Club, Cranbourne South include:

  • Private riding lessons
  • Pony Club for riders without their own horses - see Pony Club tab
  • School Holiday Programs
  • Rider Squad
  • Clinics
  • Competitions, both EA and PCAV tests in dressage and showjumping
  • Horse lease program

Our riding lessons are conducted with German Bereiter, Marcel Loeb and team which cater for lessons from complete beginner through to advanced rider. We have a range of horses and ponies to suit all level or rider. Should you wish to bring your own horse, we offer lessons on your horse should you prefer. Our Rider Squad, established 2019, allows our riders who would like to compete at local open competitions though dont have their own horses the opportunity to do so under this program and many students are currently competing within this service. This will align with Pony Club in 2020 to bring even more opportunities for riders without their own horses.

In addition, The Park at Dromana has the following services:

  • Stable agistment
  • Paddock agistment
  • Race horse spelling
  • Private riding lessons with David Boyle
  • Training and selling packages for owners horses

David Boyle commences 2020 at The Park and will oversee these additional services with the onsite property manager, Lyndal Pankhurst.

So what is squad?

Squad is an exciting opportunity for those riders who are looking to take the next step and have had the foundations of a riding school program and have learnt to ride to a level where they can walk, trot and canter independently. They are required to be able to ride with minimal supervision. Teams will compete at Open Pony Club Victoria competitions, Victorian Interschools and selected Unofficial EA events. Riders can ride either dressage, show jumping or combined training on our horses. The competition schedule is determined by rider interest and availability though it is anticipated there will be opportunityh to compete up to twice a month from 2020 onwards including in house compettions offered by The Equine Club.

Where possible to ensure a speedier response please text your request as we can respond to a text faster than recorded message which may not be responded to till the end of the day.

Lessons are paid for in advance through the booking system. We have a 12 hour calcellation policy whereby you can reschedule and get a riding credit or cancel your lesson. We do not accept cash payments on the day. All lessons not paid for by the cut off date are cancelled by the booking system and returned to the website for rebooking. Email reminders and links to payment are sent automatically by Hopoti though please email is if you are having difficulties and we can assist you.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

We do require a minimum of 12 hours’ notice. You can then rebook or get a credit though the booking system. Non-attendance will forfeit the booking.

Under what circumstances is a ride cancelled?

Our riding lessons will continue to operate in wet weather as we have an indoor arena in which we can ride. We also ride all year round in one of our two outdoor arenas. Where it will be cancelled is in the event of thunder and lightening in which case this creates a dangerous situation for horse and rider.

Again, the same can be said for extreme heat, this is just as unpleasant for our horses as it is for you. We will cancel lessons generally with temperatures over 34 degrees though again we will contact you in the event we are not going ahead with lessons.

At all times we will contact you. If you don’t hear from us lessons or planned rides will be going ahead as scheduled.

When should I arrive?

Riding lessons please arrive 10 minutes prior to your lesson.

It is important that every rider have completed their Booking Form and Rider Waiver which will emailed to you prior to your lesson time. If you have not completed this we will do so on arrival. Please not if forms are not completed you will not be able to ride.

Please arrive on time, if you are late then you will compromise your ride time as the lessons run to a strict schedule on very busy days to ensure we are on time for each rider. If you arrive after your scheduled time, then the total duration of your lesson will be reduced. If you are late and there is enough vacancy, we will attempt to complete your allocated lesson time. Where there is no space to extend the lesson, time missed will be forfeited.

What should I wear?

Long comfortable pants, jodhpurs, tracksuits. Avoid wearing jeans or anything that may be tight or constrictive. No shorts or skirts permitted. Wear loose and comfortable clothing, a shirt or t-shirt, no singlets please. Be mindful of weather conditions and dress appropriately to the day.

For your feet, fully enclosed shoes, riding boots, gumboots etc. No sneakers or runners with tie up shoe laces. No thongs or sandals. Remember a water proof jacket if there is chance of rain, we don’t mind light rain and will only cancel due to severe weather.

Where should I go on arrival?

For Five Star Arena turn into Homewood Road, the entry is the second gate on the right. Park in the car park immediately to the left as you drive in and walk up to the tie up area which is undercover and between the two indoor arena's. Walk throuh the tie up area to the office which is located at the back, all the way through the tie ups. If uncertain, please text us or call and we will guide you to the right location. Staff may not always be visible as may be attending to lessons or horses so please wait at the office area and we will return.

Do I need to bring my own helmet?

The Equine Club recommends that you bring your own helmet for convenience, please ensure that it meets current safety standards otherwise you will be unable to ride. We do have a small range of helmets available for use. Helmets must fit firmly and not be loose when fitted. Children enrolling for Pony Club D certificate and above are required to supply their own riding helmet. Please check that is meets Australian Safety Standards as you will not be permitted to ride if this does not.

Can I have lessons on my own horse?

Yes definitely, we offer not only lessons on our horses though you can bring your own.
